DivXNetworks Chooses Protexis E-Commerce Platform To Market To 120 Million Installed Users
September 1, 2004, Vancouver, BC – Protexis, a provider of e-commerce services for software, today announced that DivXNetworks, Inc. has chosen its solution to drive an upgrade sales program in four languages to the DivXNetworks installed base of 120 million users. DivXNetworks is the creator of the revolutionary, patent-pending DivX® video technology. DivXNetworks will use Protexis's services to facilitate sales of its premium video tools, Dr. DivX and DivX Pro, into its installed base.
DivXNetworks, a ubiquitous brand in video technology, distributes its DivX video technology worldwide over the internet and through hardware partnerships. DivXNetworks required a solution that could enable trial use, secure purchase and upsale from the ultimate point of customer engagement – within the software tool itself. Protexis' e-commerce platform was the solution of choice.
"With leading technology and great products, DivXNetworks knows that letting customers try these new tools for themselves is a great marketing tool. We're excited that Protexis' e-commerce system can help them get new functionality in front of their customers, and unlock new revenue that previously was not easily tapped," said Karl Hirsch, CEO of Protexis.
DivXNetworks selected Protexis because of its superior flexibility and value, combined with its e-commerce capabilities, including trial enablement and secure payment-processing. "We looked hard at the dominant players in e-commerce and in the end we chose Protexis," said Kevin Hell, Chief Marketing Officer of DivXNetworks. "They helped us make it easier for our customers to buy, and they were flexible to our needs. That's obvious value for our customers, and increased revenue potential for us."
For Protexis, winning the DivXNetworks contract comes on the heels of an investment by CNET Networks to accelerate the company's development of hosted services that will offer software publishers easy, web-based access to its platform.
