Protexis REDSM Goes Live on Windows® Marketplace

Software Publishers Using Protexis RED Now Have Access to Millions of Additional Shoppers Each Month

August 21, 2007, Vancouver, BC – Protexis, the leader in digital content distribution for retailers, today announced it has launched its RED Catalog through Microsoft's Web site for digital downloads, Windows Marketplace (www.windowsmarketplace.com).

Software publishers using Protexis RED (Retail Electronic Distribution) can now offer their downloadable software titles to millions of unique shoppers every month and potentially greatly increase their company's bottom line. Publishers can add their titles to the RED Catalog at Protexis' Web site (www.protexis.com).

Microsoft Corp. announced the launch of the redesigned Windows Marketplace Web site in August 2006 with various enhancements, including the addition of integrated electronic software distribution through Microsoft's digital locker. The digital locker feature enables customers to purchase and download software with increased safety and security and to track purchase history and store software license information.

"We're excited to have joined forces with Microsoft's Windows Marketplace and to enable software publishers to reach millions of additional customers through the combination of Protexis RED and Microsoft's digital locker," said Karl Hirsch, CEO of Protexis. "We're entering a new era of digital distribution that demands scale and efficiency, and Protexis is proud to play a significant part in it."

Announced in November of last year, Protexis RED is a system that enables open, efficient digital content distribution through its growing network of established online retailers and large shopping sites. RED is a leap forward from current outsourced e-commerce models, part of a natural evolution that fully leverages the Internet for digital content distribution. RED seamlessly connects to online retailers with ready digital content and all necessary merchandising data, allowing retailers to maintain their consumer relationships and send revenue to the top line.

Currently available for electronic software distribution (ESD), RED connects software publishers with online retailers to efficiently extend the availability of digital software in a seamless shopping experience.

"We are pleased to be working with Protexis and its partner software publishers to bring more popular downloadable software titles to consumers," stated Kirk Beardsley, senior director of the Software Protection and Commerce Group at Microsoft. "The Windows Marketplace and the integrated digital locker allow customers to discover and confidently download not only Microsoft's flagship products, but also the best products available through partners like Protexis."

Protexis RED enables publishers to dramatically increase their reach and revenue by offering digital content through an expanded set of RED retailers. RED offers better margin for publishers than current alternatives. When publishers enroll a product into RED, they only have to upload and enroll it once to be able to offer it to any number of retailers participating in RED. Publishers not only have new avenues to sell their products, but also have full visibility and technology-based verification of where and how many products have sold.
