Protexis CEO Karl Hirsch to Speak at SLAM 2005


July 28, 2005, Vancouver, BC – Protexis, provider of hosted e-commerce and licensing services for software publishers, today announced that Karl Hirsch, president and chief executive officer, will be speaking at SLAM 2005: Sales, Licensing, Alliances & Marketing for software companies, being held August 17 - 18 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Hirsch will lead a General Session on August 18 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Titled "The Best New Licensing Model Successes," Hirsch's session will address the latest trends, tips and techniques in software licensing, and focus on some of the changes currently underway in the industry. Protexis will also host an exhibit booth during the conference.

Hirsch became president and CEO of Protexis in July 2004 after serving as the company's chairman since June 2003. As a recognized pioneer in the field of digital rights management (DRM) and a founder of two internet technology companies, he has 18 years senior management experience in software and internet technologies. Hirsch served two years as Chairman of the Software and Information Industry Association's (SIIA) Division Board on Digital Rights Management/Electronic Software Distribution, and on other standards' bodies such as CompTIA's e-commerce committee and Ingram Micro's RosettaNet initiative. In addition, Hirsch founded OneChannel.net, an analytics software company, and Preview Systems, a publicly held company that marketed and sold a cutting-edge technology platform for DRM and electronic licensing of software and music. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Los Angeles.
