How do I request a refund?
All refund requests have to go to the software publisher or company that developed the software. The publisher will approve the refund request and forward it to Protexis for processing. If you don't have contact information for the publisher, you can look in a few places to find it:
- Review your email receipt or order confirmation.
- Check within the help file and/or the readme.txt file associated with the download.
- Visit the web site of the company that developed the software; support contact should be on the web site.
What information do I need to provide to the publisher when I am requesting a refund?
When you request a refund from a publisher, you will need to include the following information:
- The email address you used for the purchase or to register your software
- Product name
- Serial number
- Order ID
- Date purchased
- Reason for requesting a refund (for example "Technical problems, could not get product to work"; "Duplicate purchase"; or "Not satisfied, software did not do what I expected")
What happens when I request a refund?
The software publisher notifies Protexis after making sure the refund request is valid. Protexis retrieves the order details from the database and requests a refund electronically from the relevant financial institution. The system checks whether the relevant financial institution accepts refund instructions (some don't) and whether the refund amount is still available for that order code. If it is, the refund request is scheduled and sent to the financial institution. After the payment is processed, you receive the full amount specified in the refund request.
How long will the refund take?
Financial institutions can take up to two full billing cycles to process a refund.
